Cook With Area Chefs At Wegman’s

Area chefs show off their skills.

Want to learn to cook like one of Baltimore’s top chefs?

Baltimoreans of a culinary bent unite! If you’re hankering to learn how what to do with kale once and for all or how to make pasta, consider tying one on. An apron, that is.

Wegman’s Hunt Valley kicks off its annual cooking series on Jan. 7.

Now in its ninth year, this year’s schedule offers an array of area chefs, including chef Sergio Vitale of
Aldo’s demonstrating tips and tricks for creating a Valentine’s Day meal for that special someone (Feb. 4), chef David Hynes of Waterfront Kitchen highlighting how to put a modern spin on classic dishes, and chef Chris Becker of the Bagby Restaurant Group explaining how to make the most of spring’s bounty (April 1).

“Every season is a bit different, last year it was all about basic techniques,” says Smart Works founder Cynthia Glover, who organizes the events. “This year it’s more eclectic.”

“It’s really fascinating to hear the chefs talk about how they approach ingredients and express themselves through cooking,” adds Glover, who counts Brian Boston (
The Milton Inn), John Shields (Gertrude’s), and Galen Sampson (Farmstead Grill) as past participants.

The cost of each class is $20 and includes demonstrations and tastings of four recipes.
