Gov. Larry Hogan Announces He is 100-Percent Cancer Free

Hogan says that 18 weeks of chemotherapy put the disease into remission.

At a news conference in the Maryland statehouse today, Gov. Larry Hogan announced that he is “100-percent cancer free.” Medical scans show no signs of the non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma that he was diagnosed with five months ago, due to 18 weeks of intensive chemotherapy treatments. While doctors will continue to monitor Hogan, the disease is in remission.

Alongside his family and Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford, Hogan was emotional as he thanked his family, friends, and constituents for their support. Nearly 2,000 cards and letters have been sent to the Governor since his diagnosis (including a handwritten note from President Barack Obama) and people were encouraged to use the hashtag #HoganStrong to show their support.

“I got thousands of incredible prayers and well-wishes from around the state of Maryland and throughout the world,” he said in a Washington Post video. “It’s really changed me as a person.”
