Kinectic Sculpture Race Rescheduled For June 14

AVAM hopes to attract record crowds.

We now know when those wacky, imaginative, human-powered works of art will reappear.

The Kinetic Sculpture Race will return to Baltimore’s streets on Sunday, June 14. The American Visionary Art Museum postponed the iconic event in April when a state of emergency was declared after the death of Freddie Gray.

“This is a race that Baltimore loves, the world watches, and one that affirms grassroots community at its best!!” AVAM director Rebecca Hoffberger said in a news release. The museum is hoping to attract larger crowds this year.

The race will be sporting an “Out of This World” theme in tribute to The Hubble Space Telescope, which celebrated its 25th anniversary. It kicks off at 11 a.m., and stay tuned for the route and schedule.
