Preakness Donut Returns to Dunkin’

Dunkin’ Donuts’ Black-Eyed Susan donut arrives in time for Preakness weekend.

As Pimlico prepares for the big race this weekend, local
Dunkin’ Donuts are buzzing over the return of the Black-Eyed Susan donut.

The unmistakable yellow frosting, chocolate buttercreme, and chocolate-sprinkled confection, made to look like the state flower, has been a sign of
Preakness in Baltimore for the past five years.

Whether you’re a Preakness fanatic, or don’t even know when the race is, the Black-Eyed Susan donut aims to “celebrate Maryland heritage and this time of year,” says Colleen Krygiel, the field marketing manager for Dunkin’ Donuts.

As a special gift, this Thursday, May 14, the Dunkin’ Donuts at Locust Point’s
McHenry Row will be giving away free Black-Eyed Susan donuts to the first 100 guests straight out of the gate between 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.

But if you don’t make it, don’t panic. This Dunkin’ dessert is available for purchase in Baltimore area stores now through May 17.

Dunkin’ Donuts brings novelty local-themed donuts to Maryland locations throughout the year, so be on the lookout for Ravens donuts this fall.
