Dionne Warwick, Cake, Robin Thicke, and Robert Randolph will play the Main Stage at this year's Artscape, which runs July 17-19. Local artists—including Felicia Carter, Todd Marcus, and Matt Wigler—will appear on two side stages. Noticeably absent is the Saturn Stage—which, in years past, featured national artists such as Joan Jett and Los Lobos—which fell victim to budget cuts. Like last year, the festival will expand into the Station North Arts District with additional performances and displays.
According to organizers, other notable elements of the fest include...
-DIY highlights the Craft Mafia and other do-it-yourself crafters.
-The Maryland Film Festival presents free short films inside the Charles Theatre.
-A new bus shuttle will circle the festival site to help guests to get to various areas throughout the event.
-The Acrobats of China and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company will perform at the Lyric.
-The 16th Annual Art Car and Other Wheeled Vehicle Show, consisting of a mix of new cars and old favorites, returns to Charles Street.
-The artwork of the $25,000 winner of the fourth annual Janet & Walter Sondheim Prize will be on display at the Baltimore Museum of Art, and the semi-finalists show takes place at the Maryland Institute College of Art galleries.
