Student Designs Excellent Monument Lighting Poster

 image001.jpg

This year's poster for the Washington Monument lighting caught my eye, and it turns out to have been created by a high school student. Zoe Gensheimer, a senior at Baltimore School for the Arts, did an amazing job with the design, which will also be used on outdoor banners to hype the event.

According to press materials, Gensheimer's "main focus is in black and white darkroom photography, and she enjoys painting and doing collage as well. Zoe has helped paint several murals with a MICA graduate, including one on the Wyman Park Bridge."

She's another example of the amazing work coming out of School for the Arts, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary. Ericka Blount Danois wrote an excellent piece on four of the school's alums for our December issue. Check it out.

The lighting takes place December 3rd from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nick Markakis is this year's celebrity lighter.
