Mayor Sheila Dixon has proclaimed December 21, 2009 as "Frank Zappa Day" in Baltimore. Dixon also announced that the Southeast Anchor Library has been designated as the installation site for a Zappa statue, ending months of speculation.
Rumors have been circulating about an annual Zappa festival in Highlandtown, but there's no confirmation on that.
Zappa was born in Baltimore on December 21, 1940.
