The New Yorker's Richard Brody posted a gushing item about local filmmaker Matt Porterfield's new film, Putty Hill. Brody says Porterfield is the embodiment of indie film and compares him to Godard. He also calls out Lincoln Center, MOMA, and DVD distributors for not paying more attention to Porterfield's work. Next week, Putty Hill will be screened at South By Southwest.
