Treme Wins JJA Award

David Simon's HBO show Treme just won a special award at the Jazz Journalists Association Awards being held today in New York City. Wendy Oxenhorn, executive director of the Jazz Foundation of America, presented the award to Treme co-creator Eric Overmyer and said, "Having a show that brings the attention of the entire country and the world to the plight of musicians in New Orleans couldn’t please us more." Accepting the award, Overmyer told the crowd that "it's been a pleasure to do a show about New Orleans music and culture, and it means a lot that we've gotten such a great response from musicians."
