Life-Changing Art: Kenny Liner (The Bridge)

What piece of art changed your life? How did it affect you?

I would say one piece of art that changed my life is The Flaming Lips album Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots. The first time I heard the sounds and songs on that record, I felt like my head was going to explode with awesome ideas—not just for writing music, but also for recording it. Every song on the album is well written and tastefully recorded to create an amazing listening experience. But more important than all of this, I named my dog Yoshimi after the album. She rocks and is pictured here.

Kenny Liner and The Bridge have just released an excellent new disc, National Bohemian, produced by Los Lobos' Steve Berlin. This Saturday, the band celebrates with a CD release party at Rams Head Live. Yellow Dubmarine, playing Abbey Road dub-style (no kidding), opens. And you can check out my review of National Bohemian in our February issue.
