Here's some behind-the-scenes footage of Boister rehearsing its score for D.W. Griffith's classic Intolerance. An expanded version of the band—including members of All Mighty Senators, Crack the Sky, and Rumba Club—will play the score during a screening of the film at MICA next Saturday. It's free and open to the public.
The band—led by my wife, Anne—has previously played its silent film scores at the Kennedy Center, the Virginia Film Festival, and various colleges and universities. They've also gotten love from a holy triumvirate of film critics: Roger Ebert, Ann Hornaday, and Mike Sragow.
