Hollaback!, a grassroots group dedicated to combating gender-based street harassment, launches its Baltimore branch with a party at Metro Gallery tonight. It starts at 8 pm, and a $5 suggested donation includes music by Thrushes, comedy by Luce Tomlin-Brenner, raffles, and a self-defense demo.
Tomorrow, an intriguing new exhibit by visionary artist Loring Cornish, In Each Other’s Shoes, opens at the Jewish Museum at 2 pm. The opening is free, and Cornish will be on hand to give tours of the show, which features his distinctive mosaics.
At 5 pm, Jim Patton and Sherry Brokus (Edge City) play the Roots Café at Windup Space—Baltimore contributor Geoff Himes hosts that show.
Later that night, grunge/folkies Arbouretum celebrate the release of an excellent new CD, The Gathering, at Ottobar. And Cornmeal, the Chicago-based bluegrass outfit, visits 8x10.
