Celtic Woman, Princess Toyotomi, and The Da Vinci Code

It isn't everyday that an Irish vocal quartet gets tapped for the theme song to a blockbuster Japanese film, but that's exactly what happened to Celtic Woman. The group, which plays the Hippodrome tonight and tomorrow, recorded the theme to Princess Toyotomi, director Masayuki Suzuki's adaptation of Manabu Makime's acclaimed 2009 novel. A historical thriller, the book has been likened to a certain Dan Brown best-seller, so expectations are high for the film. With that in mind, Celtic Woman is releasing a new recording, bookended with songs from the movie, that also features standards like "Amazing Grace" and "Danny Boy." Such songs will make up the bulk of the Hippodrome shows, and maybe the group will preview its Princess theme, as well—that tune won't be commercially available until late May. Tickets are still available for both shows.
