Center Stage's upcoming season looks promising. With Irene Lewis out the door and new artistic director Kwame Kwei-Armah not starting until July, it figured to be a transitional period for the theater, one that could have understandably been beset by a sense of institutional drift. But a group led by resident dramaturg Gavin Witt has programmed an intriguing mix that includes both Sondheim and Mamet, a return of Second City, and an adpatation of Toni Morrison's Jazz.
