Artist Kathy Fahey just sent along word that she was involved in making a video for Wye Oak's "Fish," from the indie duo's excellent new disc, Civilian. Fahey—who did the cover art for the band's debut disc—collaborated with photographer Michael Patrick O'Leary and film editor Owen Lang on a shadow puppet video. An exhibition of the shadow puppets, paper cuts, and photos documenting the artists' collaborative process opens this Friday at Metro Gallery.
According to Fahey, "The director of photography is doing the lighting and filmed a sequence off mirrors in water to project on the walls. Even the title of the show will be shadow puppets surrounded by schools of swirling fish. It will be a whole underwater experience in the gallery! The above photo shows Wye Oak's Andy Stack adjusting one of the puppets.
The show runs through April 30.
