What piece of art changed your life? How did it affect you?
Depeche Mode has always been an undeniable and obvious influence, and Speak & Spell was one of the first albums that made me aware of things like drum machines and synthesizers. It is a beautiful pop album, and, although I enjoy much of the Depeche Mode library, I prefer the lighthearted aspects of the first record. Vince Clarke did great things on Speak & Spell. The simplicity and playfulness of the sounds chosen on that album are great—they could easily be dated, but to me are timeless.
