Tyler the Creator and his Odd Future crew—the guys who make Marshall Mathers look like Jerry Mathers—play Sonar this Thursday night, and the hype is at a fever pitch. Tyler’s new CD, Goblin, came out last Tuesday, and he marked the day by getting detained by LA police while promoting it. A few days later, a riot ensued during his in-store at Newbury Comics in Boston. Over the weekend, Tyler tweeted/bitched about getting hassled by the Canadian border patrol and losing his voice before Sunday’s show in Toronto. So he asked fans to “help me out. I feel like I’m dying, so, please, tonight, wild the f**k out, mosh, break shit, to make this easier on me.”
The folks at Sonar must be thrilled. But hey, the show’s sold out.
And there's an epic piece about Odd Future's Earl Sweatshirt in the current issue of The New Yorker. No kidding.
