What piece of art changed your life? How did it affect you?
Le sacre du printemps by Igor Stravinsky. I was overwhelmed when I first heard the ballet; such prominent use of percussion, rhythmic energy and power, intensity and excitement in the score, were unlike anything I had heard before. Le sacre made me want to pursue a career in symphonic percussion.
Baltimore native Raynor Carroll is principal percussionist with the L.A. Philharmonic.
