If I’m going to Honfest, I’m bringing my own cat eye sunglasses and checking out the music. Saturday, Rob Fahey plays at 6:30 pm, Red Sammy goes on at 7:00, and Landis Expandis brings the funk from 8 to 10 pm. That’s a fun evening, right there.
Tonight, Arty Hill keeps it country and puts tears in (Bavarian) beers at Blob’s Park. And Chesapeake Shakespeare Company kicks off its summer season with A Midsummer Night’s Dream in the splendid ruins of the Patapsco Female Institute. You can bring a picnic or you can get some smokehouse bar-b-q, courtesy of Kloby’s food truck.
Tomorrow, the 40th Annual Dear Creek Fiddlers Convention runs all day at the Carroll County Farm Museum. And the Village of Cross Keys is screening The Blind Side, outside, at sunset. Admission is free.
Phish plays Merriweather Sunday and Monday.
And Sunday is International Family Day at the Walters, with art activities and exhibitions, a screening of On One Field, and a talent show with special guest Shodekeh, who’s featured in our current issue. It runs from noon to 3 pm.
