What to Do? What to Do?

There's great music for a wide variety of tastes this weekend. The Western Maryland Blues Festival kicks off this evening in Hagerstown, but things really get cooking tomorrow with George Porter, Bobby Parker, and local fave Tommy Lepson on the bill. The Capital Jazz Fest starts tonight at Merriweather, with Herbie Hancock and DMS, a trio featuring George Duke, Marcus Miller, and David Sanborn. The rest of the fest isn't nearly as interesting, although War and Chuck Brown are playing Sunday. Tomorrow night, Rihanna and Cee-Lo play 1st Mariner, and the 13th Annual Starscape Festival goes all-night at Fort Amistead Park with five stages of DJs and live performances.

Tomorrow afternoon's artist talks at Grimaldis should be interesting. Sofia Silva and Lu Zhang both have excellent shows on view at the gallery.

And AVAM's 15th Anniversary Gala features comedian Lewis Black. The ticket price is steep, but the $$$ go to a worthy recipient... AVAM!
