Life-Changing Art: Joseph Bowie

What piece of art changed your life? How did it affect you?

The Art that has changed my life recently was the Buddah statues that were destroyed by the Taliban in Afghanistan. In spite of their destruction, the Buddah images remain fixated in my head forever. Faith is an incredible vehicle for achievement. No matter what you believe in, the discipline of faith is what propels you to happiness in life. I choose Buddism as my vehicle, hence, the statues and their destruction impacted me greatly in understanding the lengths people would take to discourage faith.

Joseph Bowie stretched the boundaries of jazz in the 1980s, and, ever since, he's continued to push the envelope as a bold and adventurous musician. Tonight, he plays a rare local show with drummer Adam Rudolph at Windup Space.
