What to Do? What to Do?

artscape

Artscape, Artscape, Artscape… The weather’s perfect, uncharacteristically comfortable for the usually sweltering Artscape weekend. There's a ton of great stuff on tap, but I’m most interested in checking out the Art Car Parade on Saturday at noon; the BSO at 2 pm at the Meyerhoff; legendary graffiti artist Shaken outside Utrecht on Chase Street (all day); Neil Feather’s visionary instruments at 4 pm in the University of Baltimore’s Student Center (Fifth Floor);; Nikka Costa at 5 pm on the Main Stage and G. Love at 8 pm; and DJs Landis Expandis (4:30) and Scottie B (11:30) at Metro Gallery. Sunday, beatboxer Shodekeh performs with OrchKids students at 1 pm on the Festival Stage; short films screen at the Charles (all afternoon); and Wham City’s Jimmy Joe Roche will be at UB on Sunday at 6 pm. And don’t forget Gamescape, with lots of up-and-coming video game developers, at MICA, the BMA’s Sondheim Prize exhibition, and artist John Ruppert’s exhibit at his Druid Hill Studio. Be sure to check out Geoff Himes's excellent article on Artscape's 30th anniversary in our current issue!

Saturday, Caleb Stine hosts a Woody Guthrie tribute at the Creative Alliance and Cass McCombs and Lower Dens play Golden West. If you’re on the Eastern Shore, Easton’s Plein Air painting competition kicks off Sunday.
