Otakon, the gathering of Japanese anime/mange fans, runs all weekend at the Convention Center. A three-day pass will set you back $75, but it's free to gawk at all the outrageous costumes circulating around the Inner Harbor. It's definitely one of the best people watching events of the year. Tomorrow evening's Fluid Movement show at Patterson Park Pool will be a fundraiser for the performance art/synchronized swimming ensemble. It's a wacky, film-noir inspired narrative that's sure to generate waves of laughter, and it'll cost you $20. Saturday night, the Creative Alliance hosts an amazing double bill of adventurous music: Cyro Baptista and Beat the Donkey supply the percussive afro/world grooves and Telesma brings the psychedelic tribalism with belly dancers and body painters in tow. It's sure to be a memorable show. And Unruly Women give Shakespeare an irreverent twist with Shrewing of the Tamed at Strand Theater Fri-Sun.
