Art in the Streets, an exhibition about the history of graffiti, drew a record number of visitors to the Los Angeles Museum of Contemporary Art. The show, co-curated by Roger Gastman—who's quoted in our August feature story about Baltimore's most notorious graffiti artist, Frank "Shaken" Arthur—closed August 8th, drew 201,000 visitors, and averaged 2,500 people a day.
In our piece, Gastman notes that Baltimore has a unique style of graffiti, one that's been developed and sustained by artists like Arthur.
With the overwhelming response to the L.A. show in mind, some of our local curators should definitely take note.
