Gary Kachadourian, one of the winners of this year's Baker Artist Awards and a contributor to the "must-see" art feature in our October issue, has created some "must-see" art of his own. As part of the BMA's Baker Awards exhibit, Kachadourian installed a stunning array of his scale/surface pencil drawings in a spacious upstairs gallery that gives him the latitude to play not only with perspective but also our notions of realism. And he does so with an intellectual rigor infused with serious wit, and the overall effect is gleefully disorienting.
While you're there, be sure to check out the video of beatboxer Shodekeh (profiled in our June issue) showcasing his prodigious skills and collaborating with painter Erin Fitzpatrick and dancer Linda-Denise Fisher-Harrell. Shodekeh and fellow Baker winner Audrey Chen will perform at the BMA tomorrow night, as part of the museum's "after hours" festivities.
