Take note... Material Girls, cited as "Best Exhibition" in August's Best Of Baltimore issue, closes this Sunday, so it's your last chance to see this fantastic show, which features the likes of Joyce Scott, Maren Hassinger, and Maya Freelon Asante. Don't miss it.
And Everyman's gripping production of A Raisin in the Sun also closes this weekend.
Artist Kini Collins has an intriguing new show, Canyon Walls, opening at Gallery die Botschaft (1628 Bolton Street), with a reception from 6 to 8 pm tomorrow. Her new work makes the most of tissue paper (like Material Girl Maya Freelon Asante!), ink, wax, and fire. Yup.
Tomorrow night, you can party with new Centerstage Artistic Director Kwame Kweh-Armah at Woodberry's Gutierrez Studios, with DJ Lady Miss Kier providing the tunes. And Tony Bennett, who just topped the charts at the age of 85, brings his first-class self to the Lyric.
And my wife's band, Boister, provides a "live" soundtrack to Daydreams & Nightmares Aerial Theatre's new show, Spectacle Obscura, at MICA. There are two shows Saturday (8 and 10 pm) and a Sunday matinee (5 pm).
