Peabody and Johns Hopkins have announced a new concert series, Jazz at the Johns Hopkins Club. Backed by Hopkins president/jazz fan Ron Daniels and curated by Gary Thomas, Peabody's director of jazz studies, it boasts an impressive slate of shows, starting with the Jim Snidero Quartet this Saturday. The series also includes Russell Kirk and the Path (March 31), the John Scofield Trio (April 21), and the Roy Haynes Fountain of Youth Band (May 26). There will be two shows a night, at 8:30 and 10:00 pm. Baltimore readers might recall that Thomas—who grew up here and played with the likes of Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock—composed the music and played on the CD included in the See Hear project that ran in our September 2005 issue.
