What to Do? What to Do?

This evening's Final Friday in Station North is a stunner, with Dan Deacon headlining the Open Walls grand finale—with Scottie B and Mark Brown also on the bill—at 1700 Barclay Street, across from the Overunder mural (that's pictured in the Open Walls story in our June issue). Expect quite a crowd (more than 500 people have confirmed on Facebook) and a madcap performance from Deacon, who says he's performing with two drummers! It's free and starts at 5 pm.

If you're stuck in traffic on Route 50 later tonight, exit at Annapolis, head over to the Rams Head, and check out Technicolor Motor Home, the amazing Steely Dan tribute band. In fact, they won "Best Tribute Band" in last year's Best Of Baltimore issue, and they're fronted by local hero Glenn Workman, who also plays keyboards in Crack the Sky. Trust me, this show will be way more fun than idling on the highway for a few hours.

Tomorrow, local jazz fans have a tough choice to make. Legendary drummer Roy Haynes comes to the Hopkins Club, Lafayette Gilchrist and The New Volcanoes—ask them how their recent New Orleans gig went—play a record release show at the Windup Space, and saxophonist/bass clarinetist Bennie Maupin (who played on Miles's Bitches Brew and other jazz classics) joins Todd Marcus at the Creative Alliance.
