John Waters continues to surprise. Earlier this summer, he lit up the blogosphere with a cross-country hitchhiking adventure (that will be the basis for a new book), and it's just been confirmed that he will be part of an all-star cast for Hairspray: In Concert! with the Baltimore and Indianapolis symphony orchestras. Waters will narrate the full symphonic production, which also includes ex-Monkee Micky Dolenz (as Wilbur Turnblad), Tony winner Beth Leavel (Velma Von Tussle), Paul Vogt, who played Edna Turnblad in the Broadway production. The BSO shows, conducted by Jack Everly, are scheduled for January 24-27. Tickets are now on sale.
