Annapolis-based Severn Records got a nod at the fifth annual Blues Blast Music Awards. Severn recording artist Mud Morganfield, the oldest son of the legendary Muddy Waters, won two of the eight awards presented. Morganfield won the "Rising Star Award" and "Best Traditional Blues CD" for Son of the Seventh Son, which Severn released earlier this year. The label has also put out a new Nighthawks disc that's definitely worth a listen.
