Mellon Foundation Gives Nearly $1 Million for BSO Academy

The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation is giving $950,000 to the BSO to support the BSO Academy over the next three years. The Academy, which provides adult amateur musicians with opportunities to learn and play with the BSO, has more than doubled in size since its inception in 2010. You might recall that Daniel Wakin, a reporter and clarinetist, participated in this year's Academy and wrote about it in The New York Times. Registration for next year's BSO Academy just began and continues until January 17.
