Filmmaker Martha Colburn used to share a warehouse/loft space with Jason Willett on Baltimore Street in the 1990s. They played together in The Dramatics, hosted shows by the likes of The Dirty Three and Half Japanese (Willett and Jad Fair were longtime collaborators), and Colburn honed her experimental filmmaking chops and graduated from MICA. She eventually left town, won awards at underground film fests, screened work at Sundance and Cannes, and lived in Holland and New York City, where she's been collaborating with Sean Lennon and Deerhoof's Greg Saunier on their Mystical Weapons project.
Colburn has created stunning videos for the duo's psychedelic improvs, and the group's self-titled debut album comes out next week.
