What piece of art changed your life? How did it affect you?
Listening to the radio and listening to music certainly changed my life. There was a band in England, The Shadows, an instrumental band. They made me realize, "This is what I want to do. I want to be playing." You wouldn’t even relate The Shadows to what Black Sabbath does, but it got me rolling into playing guitar. It changed me from basically being a hooligan to wanting to be involved in music.
Black Sabbath recently released 13, featuring original members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Ozzy Osbourne. The last time that trio recorded an album together, Jimmy Carter was president. Produced by Rick Rubin, the new disc got great reviews and went to #1 in the U.S. and the U.K. The rejuvenated band brings its formidable live show to Jiffy Lube Live this Friday night.
