Baltimore was well represented at last Saturday's Groove City Jazz and Blues Festival in Cambridge. The  Junkyard Saints brought the New Orleans-flavored funk with a high energy set that included a rousing cover of the Meters' "Cabbage Alley." Saxophonist Carl Grubbs (above, with band), who recently won the $25,000 Baker Award, followed with a transcendent hour of jazz that included Monk, Coltrane, and compositions by Grubbs and his brother, Earl. Grubbs later joined Deanna Bogart—who, two nights earlier, won "Best Horn Instrumentalist" at the Blues Awards in Memphis—during her set, and the two traded sax licks for five magical minutes.  The show ended with a raucous version of Billy Preston's "Will It Go Round in Circles," which Bogart and her band played with exquisite timing and utter joy.
