During Friday night's Flaming Lips show at Merriweather, guitarist/keyboardist/MVP Steven Drozd told the crowd that "Pompeii" was inspired by local band Lake Trout. Wow. I knew that Lips producer Dave Fridmann worked on Lake Trout's 2005 CD, Not Them, You, but I had no idea they'd inspired one of the Lips' finest tunes. I'll try to get some more info on this.
