Buster Keaton's classic silent, Steamboat Bill, Jr., will screen this Saturday at Chesapeake Arts Center with an original score composed by Anne Watts and performed "live" by Boister. You might have caught Watts (who's married to this blogger) talking about the show with Tom Hall on WYPR's Maryland Morning earlier this week. It also got a mention on The Signal last Friday.

Since then, a number of folks have asked me about Chesapeake Arts Center... as in, where is it?

Well, it's something of a well-kept secret,—a state of the art facility in Anne Arundel County's Brooklyn Park, not far from the city. Anyway, it's worth checking out, and the score is great fun.

At a sold-out screening at the Virginia Film Festival a few years ago, Roger Ebert gave it a big thumbs up and invited Anne and I out to dinner. He's a huge Keaton fan.
