Whether by bicycle or bus, the Charm City Farm & Garden Tour later this month offers up a unique opportunity to visit the diverse community, urban, and school gardens across Baltimore. Afterwards, the Cylburn Arboretum hosts a picnic, with live music, stuff for kids—and a produce contest. (Maybe you have a beautiful giant tomato at home that you are especially proud of and would like to enter...)
Of course, there's great locally grown veggies and fruits and other food as well at the picnic and, maybe a little along the tour. We hope.
The event is scheduled Aug. 18, with the bicycle tour leaving from City Farms in Patterson Park (the northwest corner) at 8 a.m. and the bus tour leaving from the Vollmer Center at Cylburn Arboretum at 11 a.m.
The picnic starts at 2.
Bus tour reservations will be accepted until Aug. 12. For reservations email organizers at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (410) 448-5663 x128. The cost of the bus tour is $20 and the bike tour is $15. For more info, the tour's Facebook page is here.
