This weekend, the last-Friday-of-every month Baltimore Bike Party partners with the Bromo Tower Arts & Entertainment District and Downtown Westside for a tour of, well, the west side. (Above mixtape poster courtesy of Tanya Heidrich).
The ride's midway pitstop this month will be at Robert C. Marshall Park, with after-party slated for Lexington Market, including food from Mem Sahib (vegan options), Faidley's Seafood, Mexican Delite, Carnivore BBQ, Busia's Kitchen, and Iced Gems. Also, beer. Good beer. From Heavy Seas Brewery in Halethorpe. After-after party is nearby at the Alewife.
The theme this month is the 80's. You know, New Wave, Hair Metal, MTV, Madonna, spandex, the Breakfast Club, Ronald Reagan. Anybody recall Greg LeMond—the only American ever to win the Tour de France? He won "Le Tour" in 1986 and 1989, and again in 1990. Who has an old 7-11 team jersey? Lance, of course, was stripped of all his titles after admitting to blood-doping. (There were a lot of drugs in the 80's, but fewer of the "performance-enhancing" kind.)
Per usual, the ride begins gathering at 7 p.m. on the north side of Mt. Vernon's Washington Monument, leaving promptly at 7:30. Race Pace Bicycles will be hand for tire pumping and minor bike-tweaking.
