Could The Baltimore Plot be the next 24?

Abe Lincoln

Interesting development: Emmy-award winning TV producer Bob Cochran (L.A. Law) has purchased the rights to Michael J. Kline's The Baltimore Plot, about a conspiracy to assassinate Abraham Lincoln that was hatched right here in Baltimore. Apparently, the plot laid the groundwork for Lincoln's actual assassination, four years later.

Kline says that he wrote the book with an edge-of-your-seat, 24-style narrative in mind. We likey.

A few questions:

a. Will they actually film this thing in Baltimore?

b. Who will play Abraham Lincoln (I vote for the guy in the Geico commercial who confesses that Mary Todd does look a little fat in that dress.)

c. We know the Civil War is hot right now, but will anyone actually watch this? (Except for us, of course.) Robert Redford's similarly-themed The Conspirator didn't exactly move the box office needle.

d. Abe looks a little pissed in that photo, huh?

Stay tuned.
