It was a classic Baltimore weekend, with lots to do and lots to deconstruct, from HONfest to the Greek Folk Festival and the crummy end of an otherwise solid homestand from the O's, and more.
I, for one, am curious to hear more stories from HONfest. We missed it this year, not because of any boycott—I'm on the fence about the whole thing, maybe because I've met Denise Whiting and really liked her—but because other plans prevailed. For everything I read, the controversy was largely absent from the proceedings. I'm curious to hear from people who went and can report back...
My son Jack, 4, and I spent the bulk of yesterday at Camden Yards, watching the Orioles lose an ugly slugfest with the Rays. Despite the loss, we had a great time—the first time, in fact, that Jack has made it until the end of a game. It helped that Kids Corner, near Gate C, has been vastly expanded this year. I'm somewhat embarrassed to say this was the first game we've made it out to this year, and I was really impressed. Besides the bouncy house and climbing/playground structure, there is now a slow-pitch batting cage, a tee-ball batting cage, and a pitching cage. (Yes, that picture is of my boy Jack and, yes, I'm taking this opportunity to show off his awesome swing). If you have kids and haven't been to the park this year, get out there! Good times!
So, what did you do this weekend?
