3D Printers are a Thing. . .and this Baltimore City School Teacher Wants One

Now here's a Kickstarter project we can really get behind.

Maryland Academy of Technology and Health Sciences teacher Weston Schreiber is trying to raise funds to buy a MakerBot 3D printer for his Introduction to Engineering Design students at the Baltimore city charter school. As Schreiber puts it: "While the course’s curriculum does an excellent job introducing the ideas of engineering and design analysis to students, it doesn’t focus on “wowing” the students with the awesome possibilities of engineering."

A 3D printer definitely does the trick.

With our kids falling hopelessly behind in the fields of science and technology, we think that innovative and motivated teachers like Schreiber are just what this city (and country) needs.

So far Schreiber has raised $1,657 of his (relatively modest) $2,000 goal. You can check out his Kickstarter page here.
