For the second time in three years, a Baltimore County educator was awarded the state's top teaching honor.
Congrats to Sean McComb, who teaches English at Patapsco High School & Center for the Arts in Dundalk and was named Maryland’s Teacher of the Year for 2013-2014 at a Martin's West event Friday night in Woodlawn.
McComb, a seven-year teaching veteran, was one of seven finalists vying for top honors among teachers of the year from all 24 Maryland counties and Baltimore City.
In addition to teaching English, McComb has been the AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) coordinator at Patapsco since 2007. The program provides support to students who show promise but are meeting with limited success in school. McComb, according to a county schools' press release, also has served as an adjunct instructor at Towson University’s School of Education since 2009. He holds bachelor and master’s degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and has coached tennis and track at Patapsco.
