As we mentioned last month, Diner—the classic Baltimore-set movie directed by hometown hero Barry Levinson—is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. And it's been quite an auspicious anniversary year so far: In it's March issue, Vanity Fair named the 1982 film the most influential of the last 30 years. And now, the long-awaited Broadway musical version of Diner is set to debut for four weeks of previews at San Francisco's SHN Curran Theater on October 23rd.
Levinson wrote the book for the musical and Sheryl Crow wrote the music and lyrics. When I interviewed Levinson several weeks ago for a feature in our April issue, I asked whether there was any chance the preview shows would be in Baltimore and he said probably not, that we're too...
