The theme for this month’s last-Friday-of-every-month Baltimore Bike Party — a Hipsters vs. Lumberjacks, beards and flannel trek around the city — looks like a timely choice given what might be challenging weather conditions.
Hopefully, flannel gear and hefty beards for the Lumberjack crowd and lycra cycling tights beneath skinny jeans for the Hipsters will do the job.
The route for this Friday’s ride, which launches promptly at 7:30 p.m. at the Washington Monument in Mount Vernon, can be found here. The after-ride party will be held at Claddagh Pub on O’Donnell Street in Canton. A midpoint rest stop for the casually paced ride is scheduled at the historic Shot Tower on East Fayette Street.
Also, with three days remaining, a Baltimore Bike Party Kickstarter campaign to raise funds for “an epic mobile sound trailer” has surpassed its $2,500 goal with more than $3,500 pledged to date. The additional dollars raised will go towards various permitting, DJ, food and event costs.
Bike Party, looking for a welder to build the mobile sound trailer, according to its Kickstarter page, hopes to have the new music system in tow for April’s ride.
Baltimore Bike Party organizers are also looking for ride volunteers to assist with this month’s event. They can reached at baltimorebikeparty@gmail.com.
