Baltimore’s cookie crisis has been resolved.
After the City Health Department closed the iconic Charm City bakery late last month for operating without a license, Berger Cookies will restart limited deliveries this weekend, with its regular schedule returning Monday, according to reports.
The history of Berger's, renown for their original thick and fudgy cookies, dates to 1835, according to the company’s website, when German immigrant and baker Henry Berger arrived in the U.S. and opened a shop in East Baltimore — later passed down to his sons.
During the “crisis,” which has caused more than a little concern in the city, there have been reports of Berger's traditional 15-ounce pack of cookies, normally available for $5.25, for sale on eBay for $25.
