A sitatunga is a kind of antelope indigenous to Central Africa. (We knew that, but just in case you didn't)
Little Cricket* was born to 4-year-old Lela and 5-year-old Hurley on August 5 at The Maryland Zoo.
Below, some pics of the new calf learning some valuable life lessons.
Here's Lela teaching Cricket how to do this incredibly adorable nose-kiss thing.
"And this is your new front yard."
"When I freeze, you freeze."
Once she's absorbed all these lessons, Cricket will make her public debut some time next week, according to zoo officials.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed today's installment of adorable animals you've never heard of being born at the Maryland Zoo!
*In an earlier draft of this story, Cricket had not been given her appropriately cute name yet.
