It was a grind-it-out, slightly ugly 14-6 victory against the Browns on Sunday (hey, we’ll take it) so we decided to give our Stud honors to a man who went above and beyond the call of duty just by being on the field.
An hour before the game, Joe Flacco’s wife Dana gave birth to their second son, named Daniel.
So was Joe in the delivery room with his wife? Nope, he was at M&T Bank Stadium delivering touchdown passes to rookie Marlon Brown.
Whether Dana okayed this decision (or possibly even insisted on it) is between Joe and his bride, but as Ravens fans we salute his total commitment to the team.
Oh, and congrats to the proud parents!
Week two stud:
Joe went 22 for 33 for 211 yards and one touchdown. And played the game while his son was being born in New Jersey! (Ahem)
It would appear his studliest moment took place 9 months ago, if you know what we mean. (Sorry.)
Joe apparently was this close to giving his coach a heart attack. At John Harbaugh’s post game press conference, he revealed that “[Joe] had planned to come to me [at breakfast] and tell me that [Dana]’s in labor and he was getting in his car and heading for New Jersey”—but decided to spare the poor guy. “I’m so glad he didn’t do it,” Harbaugh said. “He’d have had me hook, line, and sinker.”
Not sure why Harbaugh would’ve been so concerned. We’re sure that backup QB— um, wait. . .it’s on the tip of our tongues. . .give us a second—would’ve been more than up for the job.
P.S. It’s Tyrod Taylor.
