Augie, a corgi, cowered in the corner of the photo studio, not realizing just how fetching he looked in his black-and-white sweater. Black Lab Finley would wear anything—as long as there were treats involved. Schnoodle Tyson dazzled the photographer with his amazing hind-leg walking abilities. And Star, the Yorkie, was—as always—ready for her close-up. All told, we shot 16 dogs, all owned by Baltimore staffers, with lots of laughs, a few barks, and just a minimum of backstage drama. Indeed, it was one of the most enjoyable—and certainly the most adorable—fashion shoots in the history of this magazine. The best part? At the end of the day, all our models wanted was a scratch behind the ears and a "good doggie!" for their efforts. Which is sort of why we love them to begin with.
