New owners take over at Sanders' Corner.

For the first time in 50 years, a Sanders isn't on the premises at Sanders' Corner (2260 Cromwell Bridge Road, 410-825-5187), although the restaurant name will live on. Ron Sanders recently retired, and new owner John Naudain is seeking to leave his own imprint on the well-known Baltimore County spot. A new chef, Cindy Lee, is also in the kitchen for the changeover.

While the menu may be tweaked, Naudain wants to keep favorite dishes for faithful visitors to the bucolic location near Towson. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are still served daily. The décor hasn't changed much over the years, but the new owners (who include Naudain's fiancée, Robin Paper) have replaced tablecloths, added big-screen TVs to the bar (yes, there's booze), and put heaters on the wonderful outdoor porch, which overlooks the wooded area surrounding Loch Raven Dam.

The menu is diner-inspired with the likes of pot roast, calf's liver, and burgers. A signature dish is flounder Chesapeake ($19.95), a lovely flaky fish chunky with crab. For lunch, try one of the best chicken salads in town. But what diners will remember most, besides the porch, are desserts. Chef Lee creates yummy concoctions daily. Oh, to have that chocolate mousse cake ($5.50) again.
