Readers of a certain age will remember when delicious, farm-fresh milk was delivered right to your door. But that convenience eventually went the way of the 15-cent stamp. Now, South Mountain Creamery in Frederick County (301-371-8565, southmountaincreamery.com, or e-mail milkdelivery@comcast.net) is reviving the tradition by bringing milk in glass bottles—as well as other local products like meats, cheeses, and even chef-prepared dinners—to certain neighborhoods in the Baltimore area. South Mountain started the service in Catonsville, expanding to Mt. Washington, Roland Park, and Rodgers Forge last summer. And it won't stop there. "We're looking to move into Baltimore, south," says general manager Tony Brusco. "There's interest in downtown." Even if you're not in the right ZIP code, you can always pick up the farm's offerings at the Waverly and Baltimore JFX farmers' markets.
